The Storff is a large deer like animal that only exists on the The Island Kingdoms farthest to the south in the World. What distinguishes these animals from regular hoofed animals is that their bodies are covered with small brown and grey feathers in stead of fur, besides having three horns instead of two on their foreheads.
The most remarkable thing about the Storffs, though, is their high intelligence. These animals have their own culture and religion. They live together in small villages where they worship the Crow Goddess. They live very long and love to learn, and they have their own language, storffish.
Storffish is impossible for other beings to learn since it has too many vowels; besides almost all the words sound the same to others. And to others the language is frequently mistaken for peculiar animal sounds. The Storffs have thus learnt to speak other languages instead, simply to make themselves understood.
The Storffs aren’t very fond Men, since they have been hunted by them for their delicious meat for centuries. But on some of the Islands the Storff is now consecrated or integrated into the society. On some Islands the Storff also participate as a part of the lands army, while on others they are councillors of the King.
