Amongst the Race of Men an unusual phenomena occurs; people with violet eyes. Violet eyes can be inborn or develop throughout life. Especially magicians and others who intentionally use the Forces have a tendency to develop this distinctive feature. There are different shades of this phenomena; some have but a touch of violet in their eye colour, while others appear to have eyes almost black. It all depends on how these people use the Forces.
The violet eyed people have the natural ability of using the Forces and can more easily see the Spirit floating through all things. This is the ability magicians call “seing through” – to be able to see all things’ true essence. For this exact reason violet eyed people are in some places looked upon as “natural” magicians. In other places they are referred to as “pure”, which means that their souls are of the pure Spirit. They are also believed to have a special aura around them, an aura of Zha. They are therefore believed by many to be fearless. In fact, they are not fearless, but they do more easily separate real danger from an imagined one.
The violet eyed people remember their previous lives easier than other people, and they are able to see the larger consequences of the choices they make. Due to this many of them are looked upon as advisers and leaders, or even oracles or fortune tellers. Many people worship the violet eyed people as halfgods, believing that the violet eyed people have refound the origin of Men. This means they are also looked upon as being wiser and “better” than common people. The violet eyed have also a longer duration of life than other Men.
A large number of the violet eyed understand Zvagah instinctively, which lead other people to believe they speak the language and therefore are “natural” interpreters. But they have to learn the language like everybody else if they want to speak the language fluent, unless it is their native tongue.
Although, in numerous places the violet eyes are known as a sign of evil and people with this are killed, suppressed, taught to abandon their abilities or forced to use them in a way that do not harm others.
Still, there are several places where the violet eyed people are treated like common people, which is also what they are. It is not necessarily given that all the violet eyed people will become great magicians or leaders. A farmer might more easily get his crops to grow, a hunter might more easily more easily track down a prey. And the violet eyed people too carry the fate of the Race of Men, and the truth is as hidden from them as it is for all other Men.
